Burythorpe House Appoints Head Chef
Burythorpe House is proud to announce the appointment of new Head Chef Daniel Farrall. Dan, at only 29, already has extensive experience running kitchens in fine dining establishments and is building something of a reputation for his master's touch. We are lucky to have Dan join us and know he will bring something special to our staff.

Claire Wins the Name Game
Congratulations to Claire Boumphrey, who was first past the post in our popular competition to find Britain’s best-named racehorse.

Her entry – a racehorse named Penguin, by Arctic Lord out of Seal Marine – wins her a two-night break for two people at Burythorpe House. The owner of the horse, a H Messer-Bennets, receives the same prize for being responsible for the naming of the horse.

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to enter the competition. We all had a great time assessing the 100-plus entries we received and picking a winner was difficult. Don’t forget to keep visiting the Burythorpe House website for details of further competitions and special events taking place at our hotel and restaurant in the heart of Yorkshire’s most idyllic countryside.

One Brave Man
Former York College student Ollie Knocker, 18, can hardly pick up a pint of milk, but he still managed to pass his driving test at the first attempt, take to the Alps on a specially adapted buggy on skis and get in to Oxford Brookes University. A charity ball will be staged at Burythorpe House on Saturday, February 16th 2008, with every penny raised going directly to research into myopathy.
