The Directors of the West Midlands News have given Burythorpe House the accolade - 2009 Holiday Accommodation of the Year Award for the year round service they give to their valued guests.
Everyone is treated as a VIP and nothing is too much for the staff to undertake. Reading the many reviews from guests is evidence that hotels such as Burythorpe House and their ilk are prized and sought after... rather than visiting impersonal hotel chains. Burythorpe is a breath of fresh air... well done!
Award Winning Hotel
Burythorpe House Scoops Prestigious Award
Burythorpe House, the boutique country hotel set in idyllic countryside near Malton, has won the Small but Special Accommodation title at the 2008-2009 Yorkshire Life Food and Wine Awards. The award is for hotels and guest houses with fewer than 15 bedrooms.
As the judges put it:
This place is like a slice of heaven and I'm delighted to say I was not disappointed.
Hotel manager Claire Biggs was delighted to receive the award, and paid tribute to all the hard work that her team puts in to make Burythorpe House special.
We have a beautiful hotel, in an idyllic setting. We put a great deal of emphasis on offering warm hospitality and great food. Above all, this is a place to relax and unwind, and it is wonderful to receive this recognition so soon in the hotel's life.
Burythorpe House, a former gentleman's residence on the edge of the village, was extensively refurbished before opening in summer 2007. The restaurant is fast gaining a reputation for offering creative and tasty cuisine, under head chef Daniel Farrall.
The hotel has been receiving plenty of praise recently. The AA inspector called and was particularly impressed by the cuisine, as was an inspector from Shooting Times, while a former Bank of England Governor was so pleased with his stay that he tipped every member of staff personally!
