Our Restaurant is something we are rightly proud of, the original Oak Panelling has been restored and the recently added panelling has been turned into a “contemporary” room offering two distinctive styles within the one Restaurant.
Daniel Farrall our chef has created the menu to challenge your senses, as well as highlight the incredible range of local produce that can be foraged and found within North Yorkshire. Crab Apples, Wood Sorrel, Wild Mushrooms, Sloes are but a few of the diverse ingredients our kitchens use having picked them by hand. The best local Suppliers such as Ginger Pig & Turners Butchers, Lowna Dairy, Hand Dived Scottish Scallops & Hodgsons Seafoods all compliment these ingredients and ensure our standards are always high.
Many products this winter, such as our Game are coming from local fields, although we do go further a field for duck from Gressingham, truffles from Carpentras and our Cheese from all over the UK supplied after careful tasting by Neals Yard in London.
Our wine list also reflects the high standards we work hard to achieve. Johnny Pearson from Playford Ros and myself have selected a wine list that doesn’t just “cover the bases” but offers a challenging and interesting range of the best wines from around the world.
Our menu offers a “different” slant on traditional country house dining, as we try to evoke the feeling of a gentleman’s residence. All dietary requirements can be catered for, however we would ask for some notice. I personally wish to hear all your comments about the restaurant and welcome all feedback, please call, email or write to me.
Please note that not all our main courses come with the once ubiquitous “vegetables and tatties” however we can supply an extra portion of seasonal vegetables if requested.
Most importantly, all the staff at Burythorpe House take great pride in their work and we all welcome you to the hotel and hope you enjoy as much as we do the offerings of the kitchen.
Kind Regards
Jake Hunt
